PARTICIPATION IN INTERNATIONAL FAIRS

Expo Alimentos - San Juan, Puerto Rico - April 1st and 2nd, 2006 - Convention Center of Puerto Rico

The celebration of Expo Foods' tenth anniversary has a lot in store for everyone. This is due to the inauguration of the new Convention Center of Puerto Rico (14,186 square meters for exhibit areas and 7,033 square meters of conferences and meeting areas), where more than 300 exhibitors and more than 7000 professional buyers from Puerto Rico and the Caribbean are expected.

Expo Alimentos has become the most important event for the Industry of Foods in the Caribbean. The exhibition of foods, products, and services related to this market are the best opportunity for companies of this vital sector of the economy to sum up new business, to secure or to expand their commercial alliances, and to exchange know-how on the latest tendencies in the Industry. It is expected that this Expo Foods will surpass the $75 million mark in commercial transactions among its participants. It will count on the participation of more than seven thousand buyers coming from Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. In order to achieve this, every year we increase the investment allocated to the event. This action aims at attaining higher quality, which ensures investment yield to the exhibitors and maximizes the time investment involved in the merchant's visits.

The exhibition is presented by the Chamber of Marketing, Industry and Distribution of Foods (it MEASURES) . Since its beginning, it was endorsed by the Food Marketing Institute (IMF), an organization of great importance to the Industry of Foods of the United States and to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Another important concern to our company is Social Responsibility. In order to foster Social Responsibility, we support social, touristic, and environmental projects. Hence, our company devotes its attention and contribution toward the following projects:

SOCIAL PROJECTS: We offer financial support to the Children's Smile Fraternal Institute, National Christian Association, and the Badameiros Co-op of Feira de Santana (Residents' Association of Nova Esperança Neighborhood).

TOURISM and CULTURAL PROJECTS: We advertise images of Bahia in all of our product packaging (or packages?), emphasizing important tourist, historical, sports, and cultural landmarks.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS: We advertise images from Project TAMAR, a federal project aimed at the preservation of sea turtles, the environment, and endangered species.

BADAMEIROS CO-OP OF FEIRA DE SANTANA (STATE OF BAHIA)

This institution seeks to improve the quality of life and to create alternatives for underprivileged children and adolescents, so they have opportunities to better their lives through education. The work conducted by this association benefits fifty children who live in the neighborhoods that surround the Feira de Santana landfill.

Volunteers carry out essential socio-cultural activities, which include after-school tutoring, aiming at developing these kids and adolescents at a personal level as well as reestablishing their sense of citizenship.

We understand that only through education and professional development we will be able to promote social inclusion, thus contributing to the creation of a more just and equal society. That is why it is so important for us to receive any outside support, be it from companies or people.
